Denver, Pa. (May 7, 2010) —The Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) awarded Grand Prizes to two precast concrete structures fabricated by High Concrete Group LLC. Held in April this year, the competition recognizes excellence in conception, originality and applicability of concrete in the built environment.
The two High Concrete Group projects garnering awards are:
Grand Prize Award, Precast Concrete Building Systems
Saint Joseph’s University Hawks Landing Parking Garage, Philadelphia, Pa. A 135,000 sq. ft., six-story structure constructed along with two dormitories across the street from the main campus, the new garage honors and interprets this school’s rich gothic architectural tradition. The architect was Burt Hill of Philadelphia and the construction manager was Shoemaker Co. of Conshohocken, Pa.
Grand Prize Award, Architectural Concrete/Precast Cladding
Lancaster County Convention Center and Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square, Lancaster, Pa. The $175 million, 425,000-square-foot, 18-story urban-infill project blends contemporary styling with a historic streetscape, preserving a Beaux Arts-era limestone facade and integrating adjacent colonial period buildings. The architect was Cooper Carry of Atlanta, Ga.; the general contractor was Reynolds Construction of Harrisburg, Pa.
